China’s Huawei must be stripped from UK 5G network

The Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden says the Chinese technology company Huawei must be stripped out of the UK’s 5G network by 2027.

It reverses a decision made earlier to allow partial access but after lobbying from intelligence allies including the US, the new policy was confirmed to Parliament.

Huawei said: “Regrettably our future in the UK has become politicised, this is about US trade policy and not security.”
